Orvin Family Reunion 2012

What is better than 3 Orvins?

The entire Jere Orvin family of 42 Orvins.  That's what's better.

In July, the Orvins met up in St. George for a family reunion.  Cody's dad paid for 3 ultra nice condos for everyone to stay at, and we all traveled from Arkansas, Arizona, California, Idaho, and the Cache Valley.  All 7 kids and their families were there, and Aunt Nada and Aunt Kathy, Jere's sisters came.

Livy was in heaven.  She had all the attention she could ever want.  And Cody and I had a great time being with the family too, but add all the extra hands and help with Alivia and it was better than great.  It was heavenly.

Now, I know what you are thinking.  "St. George in July?  Umm, no thank you."

But the heat really wasn't that bad.  Sure it was hot, but since the heat was expected, it wasn't so miserable.  Plus the condos had A/C and a plush pool area.  So there was a lot of swimming.

Shoot we even took a day and went on two hikes in Zion's National Park.  Which was be-a-utiful!  And the best part is Jackie, Cody's sister, watched Livy back in the condo so Cody and I could be footloose and fancy free (a.k.a. not being slave to a nap and eating schedule).

Here are pictures of our day in Zions:
The Narrows
It was a perfect day topped by a $1 Large Diet Coke at good 'ol McDonalds.  The only damper was a squirrel accidentally killed by one of Cody's siblings.  Purely accidental, we promise.  But the scene was a terrible shame.  While in conversation, hiking, and viewing majestic mountains/cliffs, this said brother stepped on the innocent animal.  I could barely open my eyes to see what the eeks and crunch was all about, before a European tourist sprang into action and put the squirrel out of his seizing misery by throwing him out of the path and into the river.  Or something like that.  But it really was too much for any of us to handle.  It just is another example of how poorly I respond to blood and physical trauma.

Oh, the memories.

Not only is St. George lovely because it is close to Zions, but it has outlet shopping, which us girls enjoyed a bit too much.  Look at these matching nightgowns Jackie bought all these crazy girls...

And these matching outfits Jana bought the girls...

We went to a dinosaur museum there...
Leaving our mark on the place...

We went to a Ghost Town:

And we did a lot of eating, playing games, talking, golfing, and good quality family time.
Watching Uncle Casey hit some golf balls...

And before leaving town...we stopped off at the St. George temple.
