A Wedding in Bean Town...

Going back to Boston is something I love to do.  After living their for four years during college, I fell madly in love with the town and culture.

Well, a dear friend from Boston University got married this summer in Cape Code and so Cody, Alivia and I made the journey out east, and I had the opportunity to introduce Cody and Alivia to the city I love so much.

The Boston LDS Temple...
 Fenway Park...
Newbury Street with my roommate from BU and BFF, Shaunna Baird and family...
Ate at Charley's.  They make my favorite sandwich.
 Boston Public Library...
 Copley Plaza/Trinity Church
The Public Gardens where we rode the swan boats (around since 1877) and saw the Make Way for Ducklings statues.

Then charming and historic Acorn Street...
Then the State Capital Building...
The Commons...
Headed from Park Street to Washington Street (Downtown Crossing)...

Old South Meeting House (where Benjamin Franklin was baptized, built in 1729, and where Samuel Adams gave the signal that started the Boston Tea Party)...
Boston's Old City Hall (infinitely more charming than it's current monstrosity)..
King's Chapel (paid to go inside)...

Old State House (Built 1713, oldest public building in Boston)
Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall
The Boston Harbor...
Paul Revere's House
And the North End (Italian area)..
Paul Revere with Old North Church in background
Enjoying goodies at Mike's Pastries...
The city was super, duper, humid and hot during our visit - so we look pretty beat.  There was so much of the city I didn't have time to show Cody, but that's just an excuse to go back, right?

Onto the wedding on Cape Cod.  The reason for this entire trip was to see my dear friend Julie get married.  And here are some photos of her reception.

First the venue and its view...

The Couple!
 The Details...

And if you strain, you can see that Cody asked me to dance!

Since the wedding was on The Cape, we stayed at Shaunna's family's Rhode Island house.  Livy loved the beach in Little Compton, RI more than anything!
The "rocky" beach just outside the house!

The "sandy" beach just down the road...

Alivia loved Caroline...a bit too much!

And our Beach trip ended like this...

We also went to Newport, RI, but it was mostly a driving tour. I've been before, but Cody hasn't.  And he promised we could go back to do more of a thorough visit, since I want him to go inside the mansions and we really just didn't have the time.

I'll just post one photo of The Breakers from it's outside gates...

And this house I covet, as seen on our drive down Ocean Blvd.

And our last stop on this trip was Newburyport, MA, a charming town north of Boston.  Shaunna and I have loved this town for years, and always go shopping in their antique shops.
I didn't get a good shot of the main street, but just look at Newburyport harbor!

Now, I just want to go back.  I've still never been to the JFK Presidential Library or Bunker Hill.  And Cody never made it to the Back Bay, Museum of Fine Arts, the Charles River, and so much more.  And our day at Harvard was a driven tour by yours truly because of rain.  So clearly, we just have to go back!  Plus, I miss spending time with my Boston peeps.

  2. Nice Robin! You guys did a ton! And yes, I agree with Shaunna that you need to come back! I feel like I barely got to see you with all the wedding stuff going on. We have plenty of room at our new house so you could do a week at Shaunna's and at ours! :) (planting the seed......)
