Nervous for pregnancy

Robin is a crybaby and I am nervous for her to be pregnant some day because I hear the issue is only exacerbated by having a baby growing inside of you. She seems to have a "no once cries alone policy", if she sees someone crying, she will join in.

In the 4 short months since we've been married, this is her cry-log (that I have personally witnessed).

-Visa commercial for Olympics
-Numerous blog posts of random strangers she "blogstalks"
-Getting pulled over by a cop (no ticket, just a very nice officer telling her the back light was out)
-Breaking a small clay ring that goes on a lamp (probably costs about $.85)
-Having to pee on a road trip to Utah
-Almost weekly on Biggest Loser, Greys Anatomy, etc
-Every movie we go to.

Its gonna be an interesting 9 months when she is pregnant.

The Doghouse

...is where Cody just got put in time-outs! He's being super ridiculous and annoying. Bye-bye marital bliss.

You see, he can't stop singing "Oh Susanna" ever since he looked up the lyrics on google. He only stops to briefly switch it up by singing "what the world needs now - is love sweet love."

Now, MY head is a broken silent record of "Oh Susanna, oh don't you cry for me. For I came from Alabama with a banjo on my knee." The lyrics (no offense folk song lovers) are quite stupid. For example, "It rained so hard the night you left - the weather it was dry." What?!

Well, time-outs wouldn't have been necessary, but when I yelled at him for what he's done to my thoughts - he just sang the song louder, with an even more memorable twang.

Ugh!!!!! Bad Boy Cody!!!

P.S. I've determined tonight that our kids have no chance for a good voice. I've known my voice is weak, but Cody. Well. Yep, no chance.

Weekend of Love

Valentine's weekend was such a great weekend for us Orvins. Friday night we went to El Torito Grill (free of charge thanks to a Christmas Gift Card) and to "Valentine's Day" the movie (free of charge thanks to my Christmas Elf). I love enjoying a night free of charge. I ordered a Diet Coke and whatever else I wanted. Now that Cody's money is my money, I don't seem to enjoy splurging on date nights quite as much as I did when we were dating. I often order water for a beverage. Oh, the pleasures of gift cards.

Saturday, Cody surprised me with a re-peat date. Last year, our Valentine's Day made both of our "top 5 days of 2009." 2009 recap: Cody sent me flowers at work and the card read, "the past month of getting to know you has been the best month of my life. I hope it's only the beginning." AAAhhhh, melt. We went out to an amazing Indian restaurant and to The Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theater. This year we again went to "Electric Karma" - the yummy Indian restaurant with the best cheese naan I've ever had. Then we headed to the Pantages to see "The Color Purple." The production was unbelievable. It has an all black cast and the story was touching, funny, colorful, and the music was perfect. Cody and I had no idea what to expect (we haven't seen the movie or read the book), but we were glad we were able to see this performance in a theater we both love. The cherry on top was that we didn't have to pay for parking because we found a spot on the street. Beat that $17.00 parking lot!! This repeat of a date was a great surprise by Cody!

Sunday I woke up and showered. Waiting for me after my shower was a lovely breakfast of heart shaped pancakes and eggs. The breakfast was sitting next to 24 red roses, a spin the bottle game full of heart shapped candies, and a card. Cody did a great job of surprising me. We went to church, watched our wedding video (and some Olympics), and I made Cody the dinner of his choice. I also baked him my mother's cheesecake, which is his favorite. I've been too stubborn to actually learn how to make it, so baking it for him on Valentine's day really was a gift.

All in all, it was a great weekend - full of love, good food, and the best date a girl could wish for.

Dear Cupid,

The following is a list of words which come to my mind when I think of Valentine's Day:

Hearts, Pink, Balloons, Flowers, Cards, Red, Chocolate, Jewelry, Cupid, Dinner Date, Bed Mate, Sugar Cookies, Surprise Deliveries, Bubbly Beverages, Doilies, Conversation Hearts, Red Hot Heart Candies, Perfume, Hershey Kisses, Lipstick, Candles, Vases, Love, XOXO

What should I get my man for a holiday that is so girly in nature? My sister says it's a woman's holiday and I don't have to get my man anything. I know she's wrong, but given the words written above - she's not entirely mistaken either. After hours of thinking, I finally came up with some ideas all on my own. Hopefully, Cody really likes them. This Valentine's letter was going to be a hate one because you have made your holiday so girly, but Mr. Cupid, you have given me one of my gift ideas from your wardrobe, or lack thereof.

Robin

Chunks of Time...

Chunks of time…

I usually waste time everyday, but for the next two weeks I will lose it. I always get lost in sport when the Olympics are on. I get obsessed. I will max out my DVR. I will not hear the phone ring or Cody ask me a question. I will be one with the reporters and athletes in Vancouver and I couldn’t be more overcome with excitement about it!

Let the games begin! Winter in Vancouver…beautiful, ehe?!

Engagement Photos

When I said posting about my wedding might be too detailed for some of you - I meant it. For example: I'm starting our "wedding posts" with this post of our engagement photos (I'm sure I'll actually post about my engagement also). My reasoning is you can't have a wedding without an engagement, right? So, why not start my "wedding posts" with my engagement photos?

My sister did our engagement photos in August over two of our vacation days in Montana. One day we just did some pictures at my parents' cabin and the other day we headed into Glacier National Park. It might seem excessive to have two photo shoots on two days, but not if you know my very untrustworthy smile.

I have a bit of a crazy nerve which gets a little too excited when I smile. It is not always present, but when it is - it's so disappointing. When I was 14 I was photoshopped (at a time when that was new age) out of a family portrait because of my problematic smile. No worries, I was superimposed back into the photograph they purchased, but they took me from the "serious" posed picture and photoshopped that me into the purchased "smiley" posed picture. This is probably hard to follow, but lets just say there is a professional portrait, framed in my parents' home, with every child smiling - EXCEPT ME - thanks to photoshop. I always get asked, "Why aren't you smiling?" "Too cool Robin?" or better yet, "Why were you so mad?". All I can say is,
I - WAS - SMILING!, but my coy/serious face was less scary than my smiling face so one got switched for the other. Anyway, It's just a sad tale - along a line of sad tales - about my untrustworthy, anything-but-photogenic smile. This is how it goes: one side of my nose crawls up my face and the eye on the same side looks like its half winking (in a creepy druggy way). It's not attractive.

But I digress. The day in glacier was slightly ruined by my smile (just an off day for my facial nerves) and the rain which poured on us in buckets as the day progressed. Cody was a star, nothing like the miserable Cody which came registering with me. He smiled, posed, and got wet - all with love in his eyes.

Here are three photos from the cabin day:

These are some of the ones from the day in glacier on the Trail of the Cedars:

After hundreds and hundreds of photos and two days of posed faces and bodies, we were exhausted. On our way to dinner after one of these days, we saw a cute barn which I wanted to use as a backdrop. I made both cars of dinner goers pull over so Cody and I could jump out with my sister and take a picture. Every hungry stomach in those cars was so annoyed with the pit stop. My mother jumped out as well and knocked on the property owner's door for permission. The wind was racing. After no answer, we decided to trespass and quickly took 3 shots. We were on the road to dinner in no time.

Turns out, that fast, "micro photo shoot" was all we needed, as we chose a photo with that old barn background for our invitation (most of the barn was deleted though after cropping and zooming). Here is the winner (we muted the colors so it would match the cream invitation):

Our Wedding!

Ladies and Gentlemen it is now that time. I have put off this task long enough. I have decided to start the process of blogging about our wedding day and festivities. It will be a time intensive task. It will be too detailed for some of you. But this is for our scrapbook and for those who haven't seen these photos yet. Wish me luck and stay tuned!
